Scams coming out every week under UPA: RSS - New Kerala
New Delhi, May 20: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has criticised the Congress-led UPA government for 'large scale' corruption saying that scams have been coming out every week under the Central government.
An editorial in the RSS mouthpiece 'Organiser' said the alleged involvement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G spectrum scam has been 'thouroughly exposed' by Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy.
Furthering its attack on the UPA, the RSS alleged that not a week passes without a new scam breaking out.
The RSS criticised Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar saying only a month ago, potato producers were crushing their products on the road and now its prices have gone up twice-thrice in the retail market.
"The Ministry is now thinking of importing potato from Pakistan to bring down prices. On one hand, food grains rot, and are unfit for even animal consumption but on the other hand there is the pathetic truth of nearly 70 per cent of India's population going to bed on half or empty stomach.
A large number of Indian children are malnourished and women anaemic," it claimed.
It said the Food Ministry has ordered import of four lakh jute bags from Bangladesh, while traders in Delhi are loaded with unlifted consignment of these bags.
The RSS further said the alleged corruption in defence revealed by Army Chief General V K Singh was only 'a tip of the iceberg'.
"Even so, its magnitude is unheard of in the history," it added.
The RSS alleged that there was corruption in the UPA's flagship programmes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). (UNI)
Ajay wants cases to be registered against two saffron leaders - in.com
Bhopal, May 20 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh today demanded registration of cases against an RSS and a BJP leader for their alleged role in trying to encroach upon land belonging tribals in Satna district and an alleged murder of a tribal. Cases should be registered against RSS leader Srikrishna Maheshwari and BJP MLA Shankarlal Tiwari in this regard, Ajay demanded. Alleging that BJP and RSS leaders have become "mafia" and "killers" because of power, Ajay said in a statement issued here that it was unfortunate that those ruling the state had donned this mantle at the cost of SC/ST and other deprived sections of the society. Ajay alleged that following the Tikamgarh incident, in which BJP's Virendra Rai and Akash Agrawal, who were engaged in illegal liquor trade, had set on fire a person, another incident happened on Friday in which saffron party leaders set ablaze 25 hutments of tribals to encroach upon government land. A tribal identified as Jaganpal had died in the fire. Ajay has demanded registration of a case of murder and conspiracy against Tiwari and Maheshwari and also against Tiwari's son Raja. He has also demanded a compensation of Rs five lakh and a government job for a kin of Jaganpal. However, when contacted, Tiwari said, "Since the polls are approaching, the Opposition Congress is trying to mislead the people on the issue." He demanded a high-level probe into the incident and claimed that he and his son had nothing to with this matter. "I am a responsible advocate and it is an attempt to malign my image," he added.

BJP missing a leader in Vajpayee mould; leaders admit growing factionalism could have repercussions - Economic Times
Gadkari was appointed president at the behest of BJP's parent organisation, RSS, which seized its opportunity to control the party after Atal Bihari Vajpayee faded from the scene and LK Advani fell from grace after his pro-Jinnah remarks.
RSS gave the party a choice of three names as replacement - Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Manohar Parrikar and Nitin Gadkari. When Gadkari was chosen for the job, the Sangh directed him to ensure two things in particular - to make all decisions collectively and to focus on strengthening the party's various organisational wings and state units.
RSS is believed to have given its nod for retaining Gadkari as BJP president, even as several party leaders have complained about the lack of communication in the decision-making process. The Sangh's rationale, according to a few persons familiar with the decision, was to avoid any disturbance within the party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
In any case, factionalism, party watchers say, predates Gadkari's appointment as president. "The role of RSS has remained the same all through, as that of guide and father figure, but the requirements of the party have changed," RSS leader Ram Madhav told ET.
Though Gadkari is set to continue as BJP president, the party's prime ministerial nominee for the next general elections appears far from decided.
"The Congress-led UPA is yet to decide its candidate for the presidential election, which is less than two months away, and you expect the BJP to announce its prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, which are more than two years away," Gadkari quipped and added the party had enough capable people. "Let me make one thing clear: there is no race in BJP for prime ministerial candidate for 2014 polls," he said.
Yet, party leaders admit the growing factionalism could have serious repercussions, especially in the states where elections are due. The party's unit in Rajasthan, which is headed for polls next year, was on the verge of falling apart just a fortnight ago, when former chief minister Vasundhara Raje led a revolt against the RSS-backed BJP MLA Gulab Chand Kataria for proposing a 28-day yatra. Raje was peeved that Kataria had the party high command's backing.
Similar feuds rocked the party's state units not long ago in Uttarakhand, where the party lost the recent polls by a wafer-thin margin, and Himachal Pradesh, where elections are due this winter.
"Effective mechanisms have been put in place to resolve the issues concerning the state units as well as the governments where we are in power," said Gadkari. He said he was confident that the party would return to power in Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka, three states where elections are due in less than a year.

The site has now included the two new categories Rheumatology and Surgery to this section. While the Rheumatology category covers diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases including problems involving joints, soft tissues and connective tissues, the Surgery category covers diagnosis and treatment of injury, deformity, and disease by manual and instrumental means.
Science Index's Rheumatology category covers diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases including problems involving joints, soft tissues and connective tissues. It currently contains 5,383 articles partly derived from 28 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through an Rheumatology Sciences RSS feed. One of the latest additions in this category covers a review of tocilizumab treatment in 122 rheumatoid arthritis patients included in the Tsurumai Biologics Communication Registry (TBCR) study. The authors verify whether the administration of tocilizumab which is a biologic that may help to achieve treatment goals. They conclude that when used as a first-line biological drug for patients with early-stage rheumatoid arthritis, tocilizumab appears to provide high rates of remission under the Boolean-based remission criterion, which are strongly affected by the patient global assessment. Another recently published article in this category assesses the prevalence of atopic disorders in rheumatic diseases. Results indicate that patients with OA, RA, and AS seem to have similar risks for asthma, atopic dermatitis, and either atopy to healthy controls. However, the prevalence of hay fever may increase in AS. Patients with RA have a higher risk of atopy than patients with OA.
Science Index's Surgery category covers diagnosis and treatment of injury, deformity, and disease by manual and instrumental means. It currently contains 34,139 articles partly derived from 156 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through a Surgery Sciences RSS feed. One recently included article in this category presents a novel control architecture for physiological tremor compensation in teleoperated systems. the authors propose a new control architecture for estimation and compensation of physiological tremor in the presence of communication time delays. Their experiments show that the proposed control architecture effectively compensates the user's tremorous motion and the slave follows only the master's voluntary motion in a stable manner. Another recently published article covers bone graft from the distal medial tibia in foot and ankle surgery. The authors describe an efficient and versatile technique for harvesting both cancellous bone graft and corticocancellous graft and conclude that use of distal tibial bone graft eliminates the need for a second surgeon and more lengthy harvest procedure and offers sufficient autograft material for foot and ankle applications with a low rate of complications.
